Mr. Cochran racked up $20,000 in credit card debt by the time he was 20 years old; Mr. Seabrook moved to Whistler, B.C., at 22 hoping to enjoy all the region had to offer but quickly realized his $9-an-hour job would not see him through to the next paycheque.
